A Contents.json file maps every PNG to its slot automatically.

Apple's App Store Connect rejects icons that carry an alpha channel — iOS icons must be fully opaque. Since iOS 26, Apple renders app icons in up to six appearances (Default, Dark, Clear Light, Clear Dark, Tinted Light, Tinted Dark) called Liquid Glass, authored as layered artwork in Xcode's Icon Composer rather than a single flat image. This tool generates the flat AppIcon.appiconset, which is still the required base icon and is enough on its own for submission — Apple auto-generates every Liquid Glass appearance from it. If you want custom (rather than system-generated) Dark, Clear, or Tinted variants, that's a manual follow-up step in Icon Composer, which the package's README explains.

As of March 31, 2026, Google increased the corner radius applied to the Play Store listing icon preview from 20% to 30%. This only affects how the 512×512 listing icon is cropped in the Play Store's UI, not your actual launcher or adaptive icon — keep important detail away from the corners and you won't need to regenerate anything.

Padding (0–35%) adds margin around your artwork inside the icon canvas. Logo scale (50–150%) grows or shrinks the artwork within whatever space padding leaves — 100% fills it exactly. Fit shows the whole logo letterboxed if it isn't square, while Crop fills the space completely and crops any overflow. All three are reflected live in the preview and applied identically across every generated size.

Yes — the launcher file name prefix (default ic_launcher) controls every generated Android file name and the adaptive icon XML. Useful if your project already uses a different icon resource name; just update android:icon and android:roundIcon in AndroidManifest.xml to match after importing.

The Android Icon Generator focuses on Android mipmap icons only. This tool covers both iOS and Android in one server request, adds the iOS asset set, Android adaptive and themed layers, padding/scale/fit controls, a customizable filename prefix, an optional marketing icon, and the Play Store listing icon.

A 1024×1024 px (or larger) PNG or SVG with a simple, high-contrast mark centered in the frame works best. Keep essential detail away from the outer edges — both platforms reserve a margin for system masking, the adaptive icon safe zone, and the Play Store's listing corner radius that can crop content placed too close to the border. If your source is smaller than the largest size you request, the tool will still generate every size but flags that the image had to be upscaled.
