What is JWT Encoder, Decoder & Debugger?

Build and sign HMAC JWTs with a custom header and payload, or paste a token to decode it and run a security audit. The audit checks HMAC signatures when a secret is supplied, expiration and not-before claims, claim configuration, and token health. RS/EC tokens can be inspected but not signature-verified. Runs entirely on the Web Crypto API — tokens and secrets never leave your browser.

Features

What you get with JWT Encoder, Decoder & Debugger.

  • Encode & Sign JWTs

Build a custom header and payload, choose HS256/HS384/HS512, enter your secret, and generate a signed JWT instantly.

  • Decode & Check HMAC Signatures

Paste any JWT to decode its header and payload, and verify HS256/384/512 signatures against your secret. Asymmetric signatures can be inspected but not verified.

  • Full Security Audit

Get a health score plus a findings list flagging expired tokens, missing claims, weak configuration, and other issues — with a claim-by-claim breakdown of every field.

  • 100% Browser-Based

Uses the Web Crypto API — tokens and secrets never leave your device.

How to use JWT Encoder, Decoder & Debugger

Follow these steps to get the best results.

  1. Decode an existing token

Paste a JWT into the input — its header and payload decode instantly, and the security audit runs automatically.

  2. Verify or sign with your secret

Enter your HMAC secret to check the signature on a pasted token, or switch to Encode mode to build and sign a new one.

  3. Review the audit findings

Check the health score and claim-by-claim breakdown for expired tokens, missing claims, or weak configuration.
