Meta Tag Validator FAQ
A meta tag validator checks the HTML meta tags on a web page — including title, description, Open Graph, Twitter Card, canonical, and robots directives — and reports missing, incorrect, or misconfigured tags that affect SEO and social sharing.
1200×630 pixels (1.91:1 ratio) for Facebook and LinkedIn. Twitter summary_large_image cards work best at 1200×675 pixels (16:9). Images below 600×315 may not render correctly on some platforms.
Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:type) are HTML meta tags that control how your page appears when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, and other platforms. Without them, platforms generate unpredictable previews.
A Twitter Card is a set of meta tags (twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:image) that control how your page looks when shared on Twitter/X. The twitter:card type must be set to summary or summary_large_image. This tool validates all Twitter Card tags and shows a live preview.
The score starts at 100 and deducts points for each error (-15) and warning (-5) found. Info-level findings don't affect the score. A score of 90+ earns an A grade; below 40 is an F. Fix errors first — they have the biggest impact.
